2020 Application for Agricultural Scholarship(s)

2020 Exhibition Park Rotary Club East Agriculture Scholarship 2 Each $10,000 scholarship is supported by the Rotary Club of Lethbridge East and Lethbridge Exhibition Park will be presented to two (2) students from southern Alberta to pursue further post secondary studies in an agriculture related domain. An applicant must be a legal resident of the Counties of Lethbridge, Taber, Warner, Forty Mile, Cardston, Pincher Creek, Ranchlands, Willow Creek, Vulcan, Blood (Kanai) First Nations, Piikani First Nation, Municipality of Crowsnest Pass or the City of Lethbridge.


Applicants must have completed at least 3 years of training at a recognized post-secondary institution. Applicants must have demonstrated high academic achievement and leadership qualities in an agriculture related field. Applicants must apply before February, 2020.  Their application must include a covering letter that briefly describes their academic achievements, community contributions, leadership abilities and their aspirations in an agriculture related field. Applicants should arrange to obtain three (3) confidential letters of reference from their education institution and/or community leaders confirming their volunteer leadership qualities and a brief overview of their field of study to be supported by the scholarship (see below). Successful applicants should also be familiar with the goals and principles of Rotary International and able to explain how their professional goals align with Rotary‚Äôs commitment to community service and international priorities such as water and sanitation, economic and community development, basic education and literacy. More information on Rotary is available at www.rotary.org. Final selection will be based on a formal, in-person or video conference interview with the Rotary Scholarship Committee. The Scholarship Committee will consist of at least three (3) members from the Rotary Club of Lethbridge East and/or Lethbridge Exhibition Park. In keeping with the long-standing principles and rules of the Rotary Foundation, Rotarians or immediate family members of Rotarians are not eligible for this scholarship. Submit this completed scholarship application form, along with copies of your post secondary transcripts and your CV/BIO to Lethbridge Exhibition Park by February 6, 2020.  Please also arrange to have three (3) confidential letters of reference (from community leaders and/or your college or university professors) sent to Dr. Wayne Lindwall at wlindwall49@gmail.com, by February 6, 2020 or by mail to the Rotary Club of Lethbridge East, Scholarship Committee, P.O. Box 22002 Henderson Lake RPO, Lethbridge, Alberta T1K 6X5. (scanned copies accepted).

IMPORTANT: The Scholarship Committee will screen all applicants soon after the February 6, 2020 deadline. Shortlisted candidates may expect to be contacted before February 15th, 2020. There may be some additional paperwork to complete by the successful candidate with respect to eligible expenses and associated documentation.
